Wildfire Golf Club - Phoenix, Arizona

The Wildfire Golf Club is part of the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa located in Northeast Phoenix, one of the top Arizona golf vacation destinations. The club is home to two 18-hole championship golf courses designed by world renowned golfer/designers Arnold Palmer and Nick Faldo. The newly built clubhouse at Wildfire offers state of the art practice facilities including all grass driving range, putting and chipping areas and bunker practice area if you are taking on the Faldo Course. The clubhouse also has locker rooms for men and women, plus the Meritage Steakhouse for the 19th-hole drinks, food and post-round banter.

The desert-style Palmer course is a Signature course with wide fairways to catch those shots the might try to stray from it. The greens and bunkers are just as you would expect from Arnold, undulating and challenging. With the Camelback Mountains as the backdrop of the course, you will find many of the holes to incredible views. The 6th hole is the signature hole, a par-4 where you have to carry over desert terrain to reach the fairway safely. You will also find a large u-shaped bunker protecting the green, so take this advice with you – stay left or you will have an approach over a large and tough bunker.

The 18-hole championship course designed by Nick Faldo is a style of course that you would not normally find in Arizona. It is similar to the Australian sand belt style with over 100 bunkers in play. The massive quantity of bunkers is made up for with large fairways so you do have a good chance to avoid the beach. Nick had designed the course to have a rhythm and flow to it which was easily achieved with the transfers between holes and shots seeming effortless. This is also accomplished when the pace of play on the Faldo Course seems to be much quicker than it really is. So, the Faldo Course is the place to get lost in the perfect desert surrounding and enjoy golf as it was meant to be played.
